Did anyone else get their breadmaker today? I posted a deal the other day and so many of you emailed great recipes and were so kind to give me a review of the breadmaker that I just couldn’t wait to get mine!! So, when it arrived today, I was ready!! Look at that beautiful loaf of bread!! It is not quite a full loaf because the boys and I have already spoiled our dinner and had to have a few pieces!
I think the comment made by my 4 year old makes for a great review; “Momma, can I just have bread for dinner tonight” 🙂
This is so much better that my ancient breadmaker! The loaf is HUGE and oh my I just made a basic white bread today and it is absolutely fabulous!!
I did a little digging and while the price is not as good as the deal the other day…if a breadmaker is on your wish list I would HIGHLY recommend the West Bend 41300 Hi-Rise Electronic Dual-Blade Breadmaker.Â

OH MY GOSH. MY DAD PASSED AWAY LAST SEPTEMBER AND HE USED TO MAKE THE MOST WONDERFUL BREAD IN THE BREAD MACHINE. HE MADE THIS CHEDDER CHEESE AND GARLIC LOAF, IT WAS BETTER THEN RED LOBSTERS BISCUITS. IT JUST MADE ME THINK OF HIM. WHAT AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR HEALTH AND YOUR WALLET TO MAKE YOUR OWN BREAD.
I have a breadmaker and the bread is FABULOUS! But, how in the world did you slice it so perfectly? I purchased an electric knife (more like a saw) and have used a bread knife, but they are always uneven and way too big for a slice of bread. I would LOVE to hear how you got such a perfect loaf! 🙂
I had trouble slicing the bread too, so I bought a bread slicer guide on Amazon. I used to slice it way too thick, and now it’s so nice and thin (and even!).
Can you post a link to the one you bought? I looked online and could only find the really expensive (thousands of dollars) ones.
Yeah I wanna know how you sliced it so perfectly. And what mixes you are using or if there is a cheaper way to get supplies 😉
@Lynne – all breadmakers really require is flour, sugar, water, salt, butter, & yeast..we can score those pretty cheap!! At $1.25 a loaf at the store –I think the taste & price beat the cheapie bread anyday!

Bread machine bread is wonderful, although I have migrated to using my Kitchen Aid mixer to knead the dough instead, allow it to rise in the mixing bowl covered by a towel, and bake it in a loaf pan in the oven. I have used several recipes over the years.
A recipe for the bread machine that helped me transition to using the KA follows. These are so much better than the typical bagels purchased at grocery stores.
Bread Machine Bagels
Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Cook Time: 3 Hours 25 Minutes
Ready In: 3 Hours 55 Minutes
Yields: 9 servings
“The bread machine does the heavy work, but you still boil and bake these bagels. Top them with poppy seeds, garlic or whatever pleases you.”
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
3 cups bread flour
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 quarts boiling water
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon cornmeal
1 egg white
3 tablespoons poppy seeds or other topping of choice
Place water, salt, sugar, flour and yeast in the bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough setting.
When cycle is complete, let dough rest on a lightly floured surface. Meanwhile, in a large pot bring 3 quarts of water to a boil. Stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar.
Cut dough into 9 equal pieces, and roll each piece into a small ball. Flatten balls. Poke a hole in the middle of each with your thumb. Twirl the dough on your finger or thumb to enlarge the hole, and to even out the dough around the hole. Cover bagels with a clean cloth, and let rest for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle an ungreased baking sheet with cornmeal. Carefully transfer bagels to boiling water. Boil for 1 minute, turning half way through. Drain briefly on clean towel. Arrange boiled bagels on baking sheet. Glaze tops with egg white, and sprinkle with your choice of toppings.
Bake in a preheated 375 degree F (190 degrees C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until well browned.

Check the good will for cheap bread makers! Becuase people get them for gifts and then lazy and donate them ALL THE TIME!
Looks delicious! I saw the deal you posted the other day and asked my husband to order it for me for Christmas but he never had time during the day … bummer! Looks like I missed out. Hopefully another deal will come out before the holidays!
